The Director, Client Accounting Services (CAS) – Government Contracting is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and expanding complex CAS engagements within the government contracting industry. This role leads large, enterprise-scale engagements, providing strategic oversight across accounting operations, compliance-driven environments, and multi-functional service delivery.

The Director is accountable for delivering excellence, client satisfaction, team leadership, and innovation. This individual will operate as a trusted advisor to client leadership while driving scalable, high-quality service delivery across people, process, and technology.

Position Responsibilities:

Client & Engagement Leadership

  • Serve as the senior leader for large, complex government contracting engagements
  • Act as a primary escalation point for client matters, ensuring timely resolution and strong client relationships
  • Maintain oversight of engagement commitments, deliverables, and timelines
  • Anticipate client needs and identify opportunities to enhance service delivery and long-term value

Delivery Oversight & Operational Management

  • Oversee large-scale engagements with significant scope, transaction volume, and regulatory complexity
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of deliverables in alignment with contractual and compliance requirements
  • Coordinate work across multiple functional areas to ensure alignment, accountability, and effective execution
  • Monitor engagement economics, staffing models, and workload distribution to support sustainable delivery

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a large, multi-level service delivery organization
  • Provide strategic direction and coaching to managers and senior leaders
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Practice Leadership & Innovation

  • Drive innovation in service delivery models, workflows, and technology utilization
  • Share best practices and insights gained from complex engagements to support practice evolution
  • Serve as a leader and ambassador for the Client Accounting Services practice, supporting firm growth and initiatives

Qualifications:

Required

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in client accounting services, outsourced accounting, advisory roles, or as an internal
  • Controller or Director of Accounting leading a large accounting or finance organization
  • Extensive experience within the government contracting industry
  • Demonstrated expertise with Deltek Costpoint
  • Proven experience leading large, complex accounting organizations or client engagements
  • Significant experience managing sizable teams and working across multiple functional areas
  • Strong client engagement, communication, and leadership skills

Preferred

  • CPA or equivalent professional certification
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale accounting operations or optimization initiatives
  • Background in professional services, consulting, or complex internal finance organizations

$200,000 - $300,000 a year

The salary range for this opportunity is stated above. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of the range, and in certain circumstances, may wind up being outside of the listed salary range.
